Ride Your Wave – Movie Review
In 2019, a japanese animated film produced by Science Saru and directed by Masaaki Yuasa is a “ride Your Wave” (Hepburn: Kimi to, Nami ni Noretara). The film was premiered at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival on 10 June 2019 and released on 21 June 2019.
Even though I didn’t like the story there, it had pretty wild animation screens. I saw one of the director’s films. The style is the same and in my view it is probably a Japanese style which is different from the general anime style, but it is different. But this is based more on amazing scenes, but nothing as bombastic or WTF as shown by this director.
There are emotional benefits and information on their history. Here, the characters are better created. The film blends gladness and melancholy. There is no fast solution to lose the love of life, but you have to move on eventually. There’s also a lot of smart comments that a student plays with her dead boyfriend in the water because she’s the one that sees him as anyone watching him thinking that she’s mad.
The animation and visuals are nice but there is no real difference. Although reinvigorating, even the final climatic sequence is not as amazing. In its portrait this movie is more or less rooted and almost dull. Sure it’s bright and colorful but never amazing.
This a one time must-watch movie

This film was first announced at the 2018 Tokyo International Film Festival and was directed by Masaaki Yuasa. His description of the film was a “simple romantic comedy” with “a lot of exciting scenes,” some showing the contrast between fire and water. Yuasa also likened life to “wave-control” and used it for the plot. Science Saru, a Yuasa Studio founded with Eunyoung Chó, was the animator of the film. The author was Reiko Yoshida, while the composition of the music was taken over by Michiru Oshima.
